'Okomen' is named after the combination of okonomiyaki and ramen, a new Japanese restaurant in Queensbay Mall which is also the first Japanese restaurant that serve okonomiyaki as a proper dish in Penang!

Okonomiyaki is a Japanese savoury pancake containing a variety of ingredients. The name is derived from the word okonomi, meaning "what you like" or "what you want", and yaki meaning "grilled" or "cooked".

okonomiyaki is a very famous dish in Osaka, and different region of Japan they have different types of okonomiyaki, toppings and batters tend to vary according to region. however, Kansai or Osaka style of okonomiyaki is one of the most famous throughout the country, and now you can easily try them at Okomen, Queensbay Mall!

and i got to see the unique preparation process of okonomiyaki!

Pork Oko // RM16.80

the appearance was so beautiful, like i always said: its like a piece of art! ;)
and the most important is, it tasted as good as it looks! the pork filling was soft and tender

Seafood Modanyaki // RM26.80
must try for seafood lovers!

Mochi & Chesse Oko // RM18.80
the mochi was cut into small pieces and a generous amount of cheese, personally like this very much as the saltiness of the cheese balanced up the sweetness of the okonomiyaki sauce!

Pork Omu Soba // RM16.80

this dish reminds me of pattaya fried rice hehehe! the fried soba was yummy and flavourful with pork and cabbages, unlike any other fried soba, it was wrapped nicely with egg, so tempting!

Buta O Nankotsu Ramen // RM20.80

the soup base was boiled for 18hours before its served! it was really yummy and the pork was soft and juicy, the springy ramen is definitely one of the best in penang!

Gekara Cha Shu Ramen // RM18.80

if you prefer with a little spicy, i would recommend this orangey-soup-based ramen served with japanese cha siu!

Aka Oni Tontoro Ramen // RM20.80

Gyoza (5 pieces) // RM12.80

soft, delicate translucent skin, can even see the fillings inside!

  1. Somehow I find the food not as nice as Sushi Tei next door.

    Even Azuma fares better:
